Evelyn L. (Evers) Ramsey, 95, of Rochester, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born May 26, 1928, in Newmansville, the daughter of Fred G. Evers and Edith (Watkins) Evers. She married Raymond Ramsey of Rochester in 1950. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Tallula High School and attended Brown’s Business College of Springfield. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for Ray Ramsey Trucking from 1950-1994, and a partner in Ramsey Grain from 1964 to 2004. Evelyn was a member of Moreland Rebekah Lodge of Rochester from 1957 to present and served as its Treasurer and Noble Grand. She was a several year member of the Sangamon County Home Extension and Sangamon County Women’s Club.
Survivors include her sons David ( Karen Ramsey and Gary (Shari Kueker) Ramsey of Rochester; brother, Richard (Doris) Evers of Sycamore; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held uesday, September 12, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Father Charles Edwards officiating. Burial was at Rochester Cemetery.
