The Auburn city council reversed an action taken at its most recent meeting by voting 6-1 Monday to agree to a reduction in the franchise fee the city charges Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative.

The council also approved a Trunk or Treat event to be held on the city square Friday, October 30 and an ordinance (1488-20) revising the number of liquor licenses currently available in the city.

At its September 21 meeting, the council had voted 5-3 against a motion to revise the franchise fee being charged to RECC to be in accordance to what the city charges Ameren. RECC was seeking to lower the $24.84 per customer rate it is being currently charged to the $8.48 per customer under the franchise fee for Ameren, which has 1,742 local customers compared to RECC, which has fewer than 200.
