Upcoming summer work that will include Auburn Elementary School playground replacement, pavement and roof repairs dominated discussion at the regular meeting of the Auburn School Board last Wednesday.

This summer, the barrel roof over the elementary cafeteria and gym will be replaced with the board voting (7-0) to go ahead and put it out for bid. (See bid notice in this week's Citizen).

Joe Petty from J.H. Petty and Associates Architects presented the board with specifics. Petty said 11,500 square feet will need to be replaced at an estimated cost of $275,000. The old roofing will be torn off to the deck and new installation and guttering will be installed. The roof would have a 20 year warranty and the work will take three weeks to complete.
