The Auburn city council voted Monday to approve a change order that will allow for Phase II of the city’s $4.6 milion infrastructure improvement plan to resume.

Work on Phase II had been halted in recent weeks due to a shortage of ten-inch PVC pipe and the supply chain problems and higher costs involved with finding another source. Jamie Headen of Benton & Associates told the council that the project contractor, Petersburg Plumbing & Excavating, had been able to find 2,800 feet of the same type of PVC pipe being used but the cost was over $30,000 higher than the initial estimate. They had chosen to wait for one month to see if the price might come down but that did not happen.
