Auburn rode yet another outstanding defensive effort to advance to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs with a 19-0 road win at Chester Saturday.
Auburn’s first playoff win since the 2015 semifinal victory over Nashville sends the Trojans (7-3) into a second round rematch against Maroa-Forsyth (9-1) this Saturday at Michael J. Potts Memorial Field.
Colin DuBois supplied most of the offensive highlights at Chester with two touchdowns and a combined 220 yards rushing and receiving. But it was the Trojan defense that was the difference maker, pitching Auburn’s first shutout in the postseason since a 48-0 win over Watseka in 2005.
