Auburn High’s girls cross country team capped the best season in school history with a fourth place finish at Saturday’s Class 1A Sectional at Elmwood.
Auburn totaled 131 points for its highest placing ever at the Sectional level. The previous best was a ninth place in 2014.
Emma West took 12th place with a three-mile time of 19:34.57. Rounding out the five scoring runners for the Lady Trojans were Riley Chelbian, 17th (19:51.07); Katie Pace, 19th (20:01.11); Karmyn Flesch, 43rd (21:00.30) and Alexa Maher, 61st (21:27.65). Also placing were Sarah Olson, 103rd (25:54.17) and Jessica Helms, 105th (26:24.10).
Coach Jay Weber said the team didn’t run as well as they had the past couple of weeks, but was still well pleased with the fourth place finish.
