Glenwood High School junior right hander Parker Detmers picked a good time to have the best outing of his young career, as he struck out 14 batters and allowed one hit in a 2-1 GHS victory over Washington in a Class 3A state tournament semifinal game last Friday morning in Joliet.

Detmers (10-2) faced 23 batters in seven innings, with two reaching base via a single and walk. The Titans struck for two runs in the top of the fifth, with catcher Will Plattner’s RBI triple the biggest hit of the game.

Detmers was also incredibly efficient, throwing just 90 pitches, 59 for strikes. In addition to the 14 strikeouts, he induced five groundouts and two flyouts. Detmers threw a first pitch strike to 17 batters.
