The Glenwood Middle School girls softball team capped off a dominant and undefeated season last Saturday by defeating Pana 11-3 to win an IESA Regional title.
The Titans (11-0) will not get a chance to defend their 2019 state title, as the IESA will not be conducting sectionals or a state tournament this season.
Irie Lohrenz took care of things in the circle for GMS, pitching all seven innings. She struck out 10, walked none and scattered eight hits. She threw 90 pitches, 68 for strikes. There was a strong wind blowing out to the outfield as well.
Sophie Skaggs ripped a couple of frozen ropes at the plate and finished with a double, triple, two singles, three RBI and two runs scored.
The Titans finished with 14 hits and four errors, while Pana had eight hits and four errors. GMS finished with five stolen bases and scored in every inning except the bottom of the first.
