Robert A. “Bob” Shay, 72, of Rochester, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at The Villas Senior Care Center in Sherman following a seven-year battle with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA).

He was born October 28, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Leo Harvey and Doris Rolfe Shay. He married Pamela Elaine Selway in 197.

Bob began his career in law enforcement with the City of Jacksonville Police Department and later joined the Crime Prevention Commission. He joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1983, retiring in 2006. Bob was named Marshall of the Illinois Supreme Court in 2006. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham and the Jacksonville Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela; children, Erik Robert Shay (Emily) of Watseka and Sara Elizabeth (Shay) Randazzo (Giovanni) of Springfield; four grandchildren and sister, Marion Seymour (Donald) of Arenzville.  

Services were held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham followed by committal services at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. 

Memorials may be made to Autism Society of America or St. John’s Lutheran Church of Chatham. Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home, Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.
