Norma Elaine (VanGieson) King, 97, of Pawnee died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at home.
She was born May 9, 1923 in Pawnee, the daughter of Lewis Ray and Lela (Starkweather) VanGieson. She married Doyle Cook; they divorced. She married James “Earl” King in 1963. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Leona Lee (infancy) and Barbara Ann Cook.
Norma worked at IL National Ins/AIG for 27 ½ years retiring in 1986. She also worked for 11 ½ years at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was a member of Auburn Christian Church since 1964 where she was pianist and later organist for 39 years. She was also organist for Bramley Funeral Home for 11 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Bilbruck of Auburn and Kathy (Fred) Ellis of Pawnee; son, George “Sonny” Cook (companion, Jean Wellman) of Girard; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Seiders of Farmersville and Shirley DeHeve of Auburn and brother, Merle (Linda) VanGieson of Enosburge, Vermont.
Visitation will be from 10 am till time of services at 12 noon, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn with Rev. Nick Oyler officiating. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Auburn Christian Church or charity of donor’s choice.
