Anna “Ann” D. Fanale, 101, of Raytown, Mo., passed away Friday, January 7, 2022.

She was born July, 30, 1920, in Riverton, the daughter of Angelo and Palma Visioni D’Andrea. She married Henry Fanale October 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death September 9, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Olga Chapin and Angela Wallace.

Survivors include her daughter, Nadia (Lawrence “Jocko”) Fernandez of Raytown, Mo.; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ann belonged to St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, where she was a part of the Women’s Association. She was also a member of POLK of A and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II. She went to Blackburn College and Illinois State University, where she earned her Master’s in Education.

Ann was a school teacher for 35 years, teaching fifth and sixth graders in the Riverton School District. 

Visitation and Funeral Mass were Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery, where military honors were conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church.
