Larry R. Spencer, 76, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born April 10, 1945, to Homer and Ernestine (Truter) Spencer. Larry married the love of his life, Jeanette, on September 22, 1975. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years together.
Larry was a private detective/civil process server for over 40 years. He started his career as a Sangamon County Deputy, then became chief process server before going into business for himself alongside his wife, Jeanette.
He was a member of Sherman United Methodist Church and Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Greg Tobin, Bryan Tobin (Jennifer), Jarrod Spencer, JoDee Spencer Seif (Josiah), Kimmy Spencer Levering, Jeff Spencer and Honey Lynn Spencer; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie Spencer (Donna); numerous nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Regina (John) and Denise (John); special friends, John and Patsy Gregson; brother-in-law, Dick Anderson and special sisters-in-law, Sherry, Linda, Diane and Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jack, Bill, CJ, Donna, Cheryl, Nancy, Peggy, Karen and Barbara; and special nephews, Michael Jack Spencer and Ronnie Gene Spencer.
Visitation was July 13, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service was July 14, 2021, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, with Reverend Clint Cook officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
