David Cray Thomas, 63, of Riverton, died Monday, March 22, 2021.
He was born June 19, 1957, to Cray M. and Virginia E. (Bottoms) Thomas. He married Catherine Vlahon July 7, 1995 and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Hunter Thomas; sister, Elaine (Mike) DiGiovanna; niece, Sarah Trinh and his beloved cat, “Boo.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Dawn (Hixon) Thomas.
David was employed by Horace Mann as a Database Administrator for 40 years and was currently employed by Caterpillar as a Data Architect.
Flying was his passion, becoming a pilot at the age of 16, and was a long-time member of the Springfield Flying 20s Club.
David graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield, and was the Grand Marshal of his program in Sociology with a Master’s Degree.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield for 50 years.
Graveside Service was Friday, March 26, 2021 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, with Reverend Michael Koschmann officiating.
