The Super Bowl has come and gone, the 60 degree temperatures are a distant memory, and by the time you read this missive, we're all supposed to be buried in snow. Yep, it must be February in Illinois. And yes, I'm supposed to be used to it, but I'm tired of it. Somebody, please get me out of here...

•The Chiefs have continued the trend of teams with losing postseason traditions to win a championship, and it's pretty remarkable when you see that the current champions in the four major pro sports are the Chiefs, Raptors, Nationals and Blues. But with nine minutes to play on Sunday, it appeared to be the 49ers who were going to win the Super Bowl...

But when you have a franchise quarterback, one of the best in the NFL, you've always got a chance. The 49ers could not put the game away, then could not gain the necessary first downs to extend the game nor make a comeback at the end. The blame game was predictable, whether it be on the 49ers back-end defense or quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. And there's no question, you gotta put that game away. But it's a full four-quarter game, and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have shown they know all about comebacks....
