I expected some shrapnel to come my way after going political last week, and maybe it will arrive at some point. I'll try harder to not offend anyone this week, but I doubt that goes well. Job duties are ramping up (once again), and certain people just continue to make my life difficult. The month of August has seen me shoot 23 over par and 2 under par less than two weeks apart at two of the most difficult golf courses in Springfield. In other words, there's no way you can figure me out, because I cannot figure myself out...

•Is there anything worse than this month-long snore-fest that is NFL preseason football? Other than the Bears' kicking situation, I'm not making any evaluations. Remember when just a couple of star players never saw the field in preseason? Well, that number has multiplied by a lot. The Bears and head coach Matt Nagy are being extra cautious this preseason, and while that may lead to some stumbles in Week One against Green Bay in the Thursday night season opener, I'm fine with it. In fact, I'm not happy with backup QB Chase Daniel playing so much and being exposed. Daniel may not be the most impressive guy, but in a pinch, he can gut out a win or two if Mitch Trubisky misses a game here and there.
