The Riverton School District has received approximately $260,000 from the Illinois State Board of Education for its Prevention Initiative (Birth to Three Program), Superintendent Brad Polanin informed the school board Monday night.

ISBE received 169 applications and the grant funding amount is subject to change.

The district was also notified by ISBE of $200K for the Every Student Succeeds Act, which will be received over the course of the next three years.  The monies are targeted toward curricular and instructional-material improvements and increased usage of technological resources at RMS.  Mrs. Doerfler said they plan to purchase Chromebooks so that most work required of students is done at school in order to reduce homework.
