Groundbreaking for the long-awaited I-72 truck stop is “getting closer,” Mayor Tom Rader said after Monday’s Riverton Village Board meeting.

The final plans are supposed to be turned in this week, Rader said, and Village Engineer Kevin Kuhn has been out at the property taking final measurements.

“When he signs off, they can break ground,” said Rader.

The entrance way is completed, and other work, including drainage, is underway.

“All indications are June is the month (to break ground),” the mayor continued.
