Coming off a big road win at North Mac last Saturday, Riverton football coach Jason Nikson admitted he was concerned earlier in the week before the Hawks’ game vs. Pittsfield.

Then after the Hawks were flat in the locker room and in warmups, Pittsfield took full advantage, scoring the first 24 points of the game and held on for a penalty-filled 31-21 Sangamo victory.

“This (game) will be one of those learning experiences that teams like this go through,” he said after the game as he tries to “change the culture” of the program, whose win last week was the first fall season win since 2017.
