The Village of Rochester and the Rochester Lions Club are again sponsoring the Citizen of the Year Contest to recognize a person making an outstanding contribution to improving the quality of life in Rochester.

Eligibility requirements are:

- a Rochester-area resident over five years;

- Lives within the Village of Rochester;

- An outstanding contribution of service to the community with clear beneficial results.

The award will be presented at the opening ceremony of the Rochester Sesquicentennial Celebration Saturday, September 14 at 10 a.m. at the Old Stone House.

Nominations are particularly welcome from Rochester organizations but can also be submitted by individuals. The nomination form is available at the village hall/ library.  Nominations must be received by Friday, September 6 to be considered by the selection committee and should be mailed to Citizen of the Year Committee, Rochester Village Hall, P.O. Box 618, Rochester, Il 62563.
