Jacob DuRocher and Hank Beatty scored four touchdowns apiece as Rochester continued its mastery over Springfield High on the gridiron Friday, blasting the Senators by a 69-27 final.
The Rockets won for the tenth straight time in the series without a loss since joining the Central State 8 Conference in 2010. RHS stayed unbeaten at 7-0 in a tie for first place with Chatham Glenwood heading into this Friday’s road game at Lanphier, a 7 p.m. kickoff.
In a game billed as a showdown between two powerful offenses, it was the home team that provided most of the fireworks with 615 total yards and 33 first downs. After Springfield took an early 13-7 lead, the Rockets closed out the first half with 29 straight points to lead 36-13 at the break. The RHS defense held Springfield (5-2) to 13 yards on 17 plays over the final 18 minutes of the first half.
