Expanding video gaming, as permitted by state law, will be written into an ordinance for the Williamsville Village Board to consider, the board decided Monday at its regular meeting. Mayor Tom Yokley asked for the board to give the measure tentative approval, leading to the writing of an ordinance.

The board also agreed to introduce at the next meeting an ordinance which would prohibit vaping any place that smoking is prohibited. In introducing the idea, Dave Carter said the measure would emulate what the city of Springfield has done, also referencing recent vaping deaths and the unknown chemicals in vaping. The measure is to be introduced at the next meeting, and then voted on at the meeting after that.

In other business, public works director Kent Thompson said that oiling and chipping of streets would begin September 18, noting, “We could use a warm day.” After that, will come work on Main Street drainage and then work on the water main.
