A public meeting in Williamsville to discuss the recreational marijuana law and get public feedback is planned for October 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Hall. The meeting will be a joint effort of the Economic Development and Public Safety committees, both of which continue to research the matter.
At its last meeting, the Village Board posed questions about the village’s participation in recreational marijuana sales when a new law goes into effect January 1, 2020. Economic Development chair Heather Hofferkamp said at Monday’s Village Board meeting that there will be 250 licensed marijuana facilities available.
Board members said at the last meeting that the first thing to decide is whether or not to allow retail sales of marijuana. The new law allows possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, five grams of concentrate and 500 milligrams of THC in edibles.
